How long does the CIFS Food Handler Certification take to complete?

Learn how long it typically takes to get certified - and how you can go at your own pace.

The lessons and quizzes take most people around a few hours to complete.

The duration may vary depending on your food handling experience, language skills, and computer literacy. You don't need to complete the program all at once – you can start and stop as often as you need.

The final exam works slightly differently. A certified proctor will supervise your exam remotely via a webcam on your computer – there’s no need to book in advance as sessions are available 24/7. You have up to one hour to complete the final exam.

You have 30 days from the date of enrollment to complete the program in its entirety, including the final exam and any required retakes. After 30 days you will lose access to the course and your work will be lost.
